The FIRST Housing and Meeting Center for Orthodox Christian Students in Any College in America
What does it offer?
What YOU can do to help!
• Pray for the Orthodox Christian Center daily
• Spread the word to all students who are applying to the University of Illinois
• Follow the example of churches which have budgeted monthly donations to support this worthy cause as one of their ministries
• Follow the example of the Philoptochos which has organized a fundraiser to benefit the House
• Invite an OCAA board member to your GOYA meeting to discuss with parents and teens what the Orthodox Christian Student Living Center offers and arrange a visit to the House while on campus
• Come and visit the center
• Encourage each campus in America to have an Orthodox Christian Center
• Become a personal advocate of the House by raising awareness of this worthy cause and the need for donations to sustain our efforts
Financial Support
• Prayerfully consider financially supporting the Orthodox Christian Center on a monthly basis
• Consider making a one time donation for items the house is in need of. . .
– Fire sprinkler system ($70,000)
– Industrial dish washer ($5,000)
Summary Statistics
• 40 students have lived in the House since its founding in 2004
• The property at 112 East John Street was purchased for $800,000
– The original mortgage was $720,000
– Appraised value is $850,000
• The facility's operating budget is approximately $125,000 per year or approximately $10,000 per month
• Rental and meal plan revenues cover approximately 2/3rds of the operating budget
• Ongoing capital improvements require funds above and beyond the $125,000 operating budget
Your Support
• Your support is vital to the success of this project!
• Please help current and future students…

– Dine together where a “fasting friendly” menu is available
– Read a book on the Orthodox faith from the library
